Peter Kauzer - photo: Nina JelencSlovenian kayaker Peter Kauzer again produced a great final run - he was the fastest - but unfortunately received two penalty seconds that pushed him to unlucky fourth place. Jure Meglič and Dejan Kralj did not manage to get into the final of the last World Cup race. The same thing happened to canoe double Luka Božič and Sašo Taljat.

Peter Kauzer prepared another great performance, but because of two penalty seconds he finished in fourth place. He was the fastest at split time, but then he touched the gate and was 12 hundredths of a second behind the bronze medal. While he was receiving compliments and praises for his performance, he again pointed out few weaknesses concerning slalom races: “Obviously some will have to present ideas to ICF, so they will become more serious. The gates were well positioned, but when the water level is not good, the gates fall in the water. This was the reason why I touched the gates and was left without a win. Some will say I had bad luck, but I think the gates should not be positioned like this and the water level should not be the crucial factor. I think they should make things easier for competitors not for judges. The judges are here for us not vice versa. I could repeat last year’s win today, because the run was as I wished it would be. If I continue this way, I think the competitors should be afraid in the last two races.

Dejan Kralj and Jure Meglič were less successful. Dejan Kralj did not receive any penalty seconds, but his run was not perfect, so he finished this race in 25th place, while Jure Meglič was 26th with two penalty seconds. Luka Božič and Sašo Taljat also failed to get into the final of canoe double event. They had four penalty seconds and the run was not smooth, so they were 15th.

German kayak team did a great job, winning all three medals. Hannes Aigner won his first gold medal in World Cup races, Olympic Champion Alexander Grimm was second and Paul Boeckelmann was third. Germans won also in canoe double event thanks to David Schroeder and Frank Henze. French duo Fabien Lefevre – Denis Gargaud Chanutwas second and British duo Tim Baillie and Etienne Stott was third. In women's canoe event, where Slovenia did not have participants, Chinese Nanquin Cen won in front of Australian Leanne Guinea and Czech paddler Katarina Hoškova.

For Sunday women’s kayak event and men’s canoe event are scheduled. You can follow the results here.
